World Poetry
With Jeffery Martin

My name is Jeffery Martin. I have been writing since I was 9 years old. I am an author of thirteen books. For me it's not about the number of books, but the experiences that bring them. That's why poetry is so important to me. It gives voice to what the heart holds. I've wanted to bring poets from around the world together for quite some time, because I felt that if poets somehow aligned with each other it could cause a significant change in the way neighbors around the world looked at one another. We could discover all of the similarities we shared and give less time to what divided us. My goal is to film and interview poets from around the globe. Listen to their voices and connect with their stories, finding that, despite distance or race or gender or beliefs, the human spirit is an unbreakable thread capable of weaving magic and change all over the globe. I truly believe in the power of words and the sanctity of their expression. I am not a fortune-teller but I think this endeavor will move and inspire people for years to come. North Carolina is our beginning or kickoff on a world tour that will show the power of poetry in the language of human experience. I hope to meet you and witness your poetry, your passion in this sacred space where words are sure to come alive and a stronger community built.
